The United Sabah Bajau Organization (USBO) has amended its constitution to change its name to united Sabah Bumis Organization in its effort to strengthen and broaden the horizons of scope and function of the association.

USBO president Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said the amendment was approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) through a letter dated May 27, this year, which was received recently.

However, he said it still retained abbreviation of the renamed association as USBO, but the word Bajau was changed to Bumis.

"This amendment is made to adjust the scope and functions of the association as well as championing the interests of the community under the auspices of Bumis," he said in a statement, here today.

He said in terms of the objectives and role, USBO would maintain its original struggle with its activities focused on the areas of education, economy and culture.

Salleh, who is also the State Legislative Assembly Speaker, said USBO was committed to supporting the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Federal level and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj Aman at the state level.
